As of August 14, 2026, we're discontinuing R-Player, one of the projects that has been part of the ZBS Radio experience.
This wasn't a decision we made lightly, but over time, the way listeners access ZBS Radio has changed. With those changes, we've reached the point where R-Player is no longer necessary.
When R-Player was originally created, it provided a simple way for listeners to access ZBS Radio. It was designed to make listening more convenient across different platforms.
However, since the formation of Zenico Group, we've moved our streams to our new platforms, and the way we provide access to ZBS Radio has evolved significantly.
Our new Radio Player website, zenicotech.xyz, now provides a much simpler way to access ZBS Radio without needing a dedicated player or additional software. It gives listeners an easy place to find and listen to our stations while keeping the experience straightforward.
There's also been a major change in how listeners can use Alexa.
Previously, having an Alexa skill was an important part of making ZBS Radio accessible through Alexa devices. Listeners used to activate it by saying:
"Alexa, ask Our Player to play ZBS Radio Havant."
That's no longer necessary.
Listeners can now simply say:
"Alexa, play ZBS Radio Havant."
That's it. No separate R-Player Alexa skill is needed.
Another factor in this decision was the possibility of turning R-Player into a dedicated mobile application.
While creating a mobile app was something we considered, developing and maintaining one would require a significant amount of time and resources.
Rather than spending that time building another way to access the station, we'd rather put our focus where it matters most: ZBS Radio itself.
Our priority is to continue improving our stations, the listening experience, our programming, and everything that makes ZBS Radio what it is.
R-Player has served its purpose, but we believe it's time to move forward.
Discontinuing R-Player doesn't mean we're stopping development. Quite the opposite — it allows us to concentrate our efforts on the things that are now more important to ZBS Radio.
For listeners, the experience is actually simpler than ever:
Visit zenicotech.xyz or simply ask Alexa to play ZBS Radio Havant.
Thank you to everyone who used R-Player, supported it, or followed its development.
It was an important part of our journey, and we're grateful for the time it was part of ZBS Radio.
